HSPs notice subtle environmental stimuli that other people miss. This increases their sensitivity to others’ feelings, making them very empathetic. HSPs experience strong positive and negative emotions in response to a range of pleasurable and painful stimuli (Aron, 2010). This can be advantageous but can also lead to overarousal and chronic stress. HSPs notice a lot more than others in the same situation or environment, including other people’s emotions (although they may remain unexpressed), noise levels, smells, and other aspects of the environment (Aron, 2010). HSPs process all types of information more deeply than others, are more reflective, and take longer to make decisions (Aron, 2010).ĭepth of processing occurs both consciously, through analysis of information conveyed by communication in relationships, and unconsciously, through gut feelings or hunches. In later research, Aron (2010) differentiated the HSP trait into four categories. ![]() The terms HSP and SPS are often used interchangeably. In other words, you are either born with it or you are not. Aron’s (1996) original definition understood high sensitivity as inborn, genetic, and binomial rather than learned or existing on a spectrum. When a person scores 14 or more on the 27-item HSPS (Aron & Aron, 1997), they are thought to have a highly sensitive personality. HSPs are estimated to make up 15–20% of the population when using the HSPS (Aron & Aron, 1997) to test and up to 30% of the population when using the shortened scale (, 2020). She and her husband devised the Highly Sensitive Person Scale (HSPS), which spawned further research into the trait, including its neurobiological origins (Aron & Aron, 1997).īefore that, Carl Jung was the first to recognize the importance of sensitivity and believed that it played a more important role than sexuality in an individual’s susceptibility to neurosis (Aron, 2004). ![]() The term HSP was first coined by the psychologist Elaine Aron (1996), who is herself an HSP. Did you know there is a trait characterized by sensory processing sensitivity (SPS), which identifies a highly sensitive person/personality (HSP)? Yahoo! every year votes us "The Top 10 Worst Sexy Halloween Costumes" or something like that and we always win. ![]() ![]() What are the biggest criticisms of your costumes? Our average top seller isn't all that much sexier than what a girl wears out to like a dance club in Scottsdale, you know, when I go out. I think some of the backlash we get is just from people that haven't gone out in a long time. But I think that just goes along with girls wanting to look good and feel good and feel attractive. Have your sexy costumes always sold better than the ones you would consider to be not sexy?įor us, our top sellers are always usually on the sexier side. So we were like one of the few places you could go to buy these and there was a huge demand because this was what girls were interested in. The mainstream stores like Party City and Spirit didn't really carry those at this point or not that much selection if they did. There wasn't that much competition in lingerie, but there was even less competition for sexy Halloween costumes. So the first Halloween in the garage, the lingerie manufacturers that we were working with had these sexier Halloween costumes and we stocked just a little bit of it. It just took off. How did you transition into making sexy costumes? It never really played out like that but I think 30 percent of our customers probably fall into that category. I felt like everyone was looking at me like, "What is this guy doing in the store?" I honestly thought when we started it, that most of our customers would be male buying gifts for their wives or girlfriends. ![]() Actually, a funny story, I had a fiancé at the time and I went to buy some lingerie for Valentine's Day at Victoria's Secret and I just thought it was the most uncomfortable experience in the world. We just felt like lingerie was the perfect thing to sell online because it's one of those things I felt that people would want to buy in the privacy of their own home. We came together to try and start an e-commerce-based business because we knew that was the future of business. Me and my brother started Yandy in 2005 out of my two-car garage. How does a dude like you get into the lingerie business? Yandy CEO Chad Horstman, 37, spoke to about how things like Sexy Jellyfish come to be, what costumes are too controversial to ever realize, and the one vegetable he has just not been able to make as a sexy Halloween costume. We scoured the Internet and found some other bizarre, unnecessarily sexy and controversial new costumes that make the “sexy Big Bird” conundrum of last year look like child’s play.Yandy, the lingerie company that produces Halloween gems like Sexy Olaf, Sexy Barney, and, most recently, Sexy Pizza Rat, has a long history of astounding people with its wonderfully silly and sexy costumes. The costume bearing a resemblance to Osama bin Laden was eventually pulled after being deemed “offensive to 9/11 victims" and described as encouraging "negative stereotypes about turbans and beards that have led to violence and discrimination against Sikhs and other minorities."Īnd it doesn’t stop there. “It was never our intention to offend anyone and we apologize to any customers who may have been offended by the name of the costume," a Walmart spokesperson told KATU.Īnother controversy erupted in late September when the Sikh community put pressure on Walmart to pull its "Turban Beard Adult Halloween Instant Costume” from shelves. Comprised of a full-skirted dress and headpiece, the $19.97 costume was pulled from stores after the chain received complaints from patrons that it over-sexualized toddlers. The season's first sexy-costume controversy happened in late September when Walmart came under fire for stocking its shelves with a “Naughty Leopard” Halloween costume for little girls. What do Osama bin Laden, Heisenberg of “Breaking Bad,” pizza, Barney, and corn on the cob have in common? There are over 1,800 pieces of art in The Logan collection displayed throughout the hotel. The Logan has collaborated with a bevy of Philadelphia based artists, who collectively work together (as well as artists who work independently) to promote and support the local art community. ![]() Assembly is located nine floors above the city and is a chic ultra-modern space with its unhindered panoramic view of Logan Square to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway all the way to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Logan’s Assembly Rooftop Bar & Lounge is a major signature item for us as no other hotel in Philadelphia has a rooftop bar with such views. From The Logan, visitors have easy access to major highways, and are walking distance to Center City shopping and the restaurant district. The Logan is located at the foot of Philadelphia’s mecca of museums, art and historical landmarks. Connection and easy access to an events venue/conference center. There are many unique position elements and selling points that are part of The Logan that we see as key differentiating factors from our competition. What unique positioning elements are part of the property that you see as differentiators? We have access to the vast Hilton distribution system and marketing programs and can opt in at our own discretion. We have the benefits of being soft branded which allows us to remain independent while still offering benefits to travelers in the Hilton network who would like to use their points for a more unique experience. Sandy Heydt, Director of Sales & Marketing What do you see as the advantages of having a Curio brand vs a stand-alone independent? All public space was taken down to frame, guest rooms were updated, corridors renovated, spa and fitness center tripled in size, lower level renovation, outdoor spaces enhanced, and the library and rooftop lounge were added. While we can’t disclose the exact amount, it was significant to say the least. What was the total CAPEX investment in the refurbishment of the property? Our curated local art collection is quickly become a destination in its own right, leaving guests captivated by the impressive works created especially for our property and wholly inspired by Philadelphia. Our namesake, James Logan’s character and lifestyle, can be found around every corner, with nods to Philadelphia’s history in manufacturing, fashion and textiles. We embody exactly that – our property has a wealth of history in the city, and our design has countless historical elements worthy of exploration. Why was Hilton Curio chosen as a soft brand?īy its definition, the Curio brand is a collection of unique hotels, each with its own history and character in cities across the globe. While visiting recently, I met with Sandy Heydt, Director of Sales & Marketing to discuss this transition and the strategy for the hotel moving forward. As well, these sought to make the hotel more accessible to locals, as highlighted by an engagement program called ‘Living The Logan’ where monthly events feature resident art exhibits from nearby university students.Īll told, this rebrand is a daunting task that took six months to complete from mid-June to December 2015. The senior team saw this rebranding as a chance to develop a truly independent, destination property that builds upon James Logan’s historical significance to the city as well as to the nation. The resultant property makeover, managed by Sage Hospitality, is now part of the Hilton Curio group. In Philadelphia, with a new Four Seasons Hotel in the making, the brand’s venerable Logan Square property represented an ideal opportunity for a newly independent hotel to make its mark on the City of Brotherly Love. Seemingly, a fine balance between the hotel having its own unique identity and gaining in operational expertise, loyalty programs and web booking advantages has wide appeal with both owners and the larger financial community that provides the necessary capital. The number of properties converting to soft brands such as Marriott Autograph, Hilton Curio, BW Premier, Loews’ OE and the like demonstrate a significant upswing in traction for this hybrid hotel category. ![]() Those are accessible only if you climb on a building or crane and the creature has the bad habit of becoming numb in wide open areas, where there's no way to reach his weak spots. There's one thing I really should mention, as it got me extremely frustrated while playing the game's demo? The Xbox 360 demo version of The Simpsons Game allows you to fight that Lard Lad as Homer or Bart, but it will be an extremely tough fight, since you can only take down the overgrown kiddo by hitting his weak points. Guess what? It turns out that the creator of the hilarious Springfield family, Matt Groening is the game's final boss? How's that for a tough nemesis? However, most of the gamers won't be expecting top class eye candy from a title like this, but rather pure humor and that Simpson-flavored irony we adore. Springfield manages to get deformed and destroyed after the attack of a huge critter called Lard Lad, so the next-gen console's power is put to good use. Homer, besides inflating and burping, can also use his fists and transform into a red ball of fire thingy is he eats some peppers. If you like to keep it simple and just use Homer's renegade son, he'll wield a slingshot and use his fists to eliminate those Krusty clones. Sometimes, by collecting special pickups, Bart can turn into Robobart and perform some Robocop action, like shooting lasers.Īs Bartman, the little fellow can fly and glide using his cape and hang on trees and poles using a special rope. Meanwhile Bart's abilities rely on his alternate self, the superhero known as Bartman, a mocking replica of Batman (costume included). Homer's fatal ability is his green burp that can be charged into a super-burp if you're really into some explosive damage. Yeah, that crazy clown seems to be the ideal villain, along with those drooling Cyclop-like aliens, that always meet their doom when attacking Springfield. Homer, besides being annoying and mocking Bart, can inflate and start rolling around, killing those pesky Krusty clones. Each member of the Simpson family has a special ability, which will become useful at some point during the game. ![]() There's also a "God of Wharf" challenge that pits Lisa and Bart against a couple of crazy dolphins. In the "Medal of Homer" level, for example Homer and Bart are WWII soldiers, fighting in France, while in "Grand Theft Scratchy", the Simpsons start a riot against this title and in "Shadow of the Colossal Donut", Bart and Homer fight a giant "Lard Lad". However, they're not the gaming cults we've known so far, as they feature one or more of the four above-mentioned characters messing things up. We're dealing with a 3D action-adventure platformer that allows playing as Bart, Lisa, Homer or Marge as you enter the world of GTA, Medal of Honor, Shadow of the Colossus and even God of War. Parody is the middle name of the game, as EA's title manages to gather all famous titles from the last years in a big pile and mock them all. The Simpsons Game is due for a late October release, but the Xbox 360 demo of the game is available right now on the Xbox Live so don't hesitate to download it and give the title a spin. Lisa, Marge, Bart and Homer will embark in what is probably their best gaming adventure so far and an experience that will put you through parody versions of the most famous gaming phenomena. That's why I went "woo-hoo!" when I found out that EA Games are about to release a title featuring the famous Springfield-based characters. Even if you still own an XBOX 360, you can easily install our games if you have JB."Woo-hoo!" is probably one of the most familiar lines from the Simpsons TV show together with "Mmm?chocolate?" and of course Homer's trademark "D'oh!". You can easily open it with the Xenia emulator on your computer and use the controller to play like a real console. The success of this system is associated with very famous titles such as Halo Series, Elder Scrolls Series, Grand Theft Auto Series, Half-Life Series, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock … With the excellent Xbox Live system and the very good support from third-party developers, Xbox 360 has redefined the term “console” in the eyes of gamers. Mentioning Xbox 360 is that people mention one of the two most popular platforms in the past 10 years. With the PS3, Xbox 360 has gradually reshaped the future of the gaming industry. This situation happened because of the large dynamic range of the scene compared to the dynamic range of your camera. Vice versa when trying to set your exposure to suit the bright side of the scene, you will lose much of the details on the darker side. When trying to set your exposure to show the details in the shadow part of the scene, the bright side of the scene will be over-exposed. HDR photography is about shooting a scene that has a great dynamic range, for example when shooting a subject (that has shadows in its details) against a very bright background. But before that let us shortly discuss what HDR photography is? In this article I will go through the software, exploring its menus and define its cons and pros. Photomatix Pro 5.0 is considered one of the top software that is capable of producing amazing and astonishing HDR photos. There are also some safety risks such as remote file transfer capability - I think every time the user enters into a folder or transfers files, remote authorization should be provided from another end. Also, audio features could be added to ease the communication. I feel like there should be some control where the user can select multiple folders of files that would be invisible to the other end-user. I have used other remote softwares before, but none of them is comparable to AnyDesk.
